Bio:

During my tenure here on this mysterious blue rock, I have lived many places. I lived in Elgin, IL until I was five years old and my parents packed me and my older brother up and moved to South Elgin, IL. I did most of my growing up at the house in South Elgin. While attending Millikin University, I lived in a house from my sophomore year to my senior year. We called the house Home and Prairie because it was on the corner of Home and Prairie (we were very clever). Living in that house provided me with some of the most... unique experiences of my life. Then, around Thanksgiving of my Junior year of college, my parents moved back to Elgin. This is where I currently reside, now that I have graduated. My bedroom has a princess turret in which I frequently comb my hair and read romance novels.

As a child, I was seemingly two different people. A real Jekyll and Hyde sort of thing. Most of the time I was a fun-loving kid who wanted nothing more than to amuse every single person in the room. The other side of me was this terrible shin-kicking monster that could show its ugly face at the drop of a hat (or a bad call in a game of kick ball, or simply a harmless accident.) It was this temper that eventually led to my first theatrical endeavor. My family was vacationing in Gatlinburg, TN, visiting my grandparents. I was throwing one of my famous tantrums and my parents and grandparents just could not get me stop. This led to my Grandmother suggesting that I occupy myself by coming up with a play to perform. The story I settled on was the birth of Jesus. I then proceeded to direct my dad, my cousin, and I think a few stuffed animals in what I consider to be the greatest Nativity scene ever seen by man. After that, theatre seemed to just keep popping up in my life. I became a very regular performer with the Children’s Theatre of Elgin, where I met Nick. He had really bad hair, but he could make stupid sound effects, so we became friends. That was in eighth grade. I met Mikey in fourth grade when we were both transferred out of our normal schools and sent to a special class... It was a gifted program. There, we were subjected to a whole lot of experimental teaching methods that, in the end, I think had a major influence on my growth into the creative being I am now.

I constantly wonder why I create theatre. It’s a question I have a hard time answering. Maybe the reason I create theatre is so that I can find out why I create theatre. Or maybe I do it to effect change in the world. Or maybe I just like hearing little old ladies say “Oh, I just can’t believe you memorized all those lines!”

10 Sentence Ramble: Think about this: man is of the earth, technology is of man, therefore robots are natural. Go big or don’t go at all. Don’t take life too seriously. Dress like you’re on vacation. Live so that the story of your life is worth being told. Bacon is really quite good. The best film of all time is “Small Soldiers.” I see no reason to not be positive and optimistic in all situations. Weather, like all inconveniences, can be ignored. I am behind you... BOO!

“The creation of the world did not happen once and for all time, it is happening every day.” ~Samuel Beckett
