Nothing Special Productions is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit orginization that was started in April of 2005 in Elgin, IL, by Nick Cardiff, Alissa Jones, Mikey Laird, and Brian Rohde.
NSP is dedicated to serving their community by providing high quality entertainment, creative education through in-school workshops, and by raising awareness for local charities.
As listed in our Mission, we accomplish our goals by focusing on three important elements; Entertainment, Education and Community.
Entertainment
NSP strives to:
1. Create vibrant and exciting entertainment
2. Create fun and imaginative theatre, primarily by working with new plays and playwrights
3. Create entertainment FOR THE AUDIENCE while challenging ourselves as artists
NSP believes every artist should be a lifelong student. Therefore we will continue to learn, explore, and challenge ourselves, our audience, and anyone else who is willing to listen.
Education
NSP believes:
1. Arts education must remain an important aspect of childhood development
2. Children should be encouraged to free their imaginations and to never stop creating
3. This is the responsibility of everyone.
NSP uses in-school workshops and performances to do their part in keeping arts education in the lives of children.
Community
NSP will:
1. Raise awareness for charities and stress the importance of giving back to the community.
2. Continue to reach out to other artists by providing a vehicle for them to practice their art.
3. Contribute positively to the collective human experience
NSP has produced original, exciting plays all the while setting an example in our local and artistic communities by raising awareness and funds for charitable causes.
Nothing Special
Theatre is something not only for intellectuals or little old ladies with purse dogs, but for anyone who can laugh, cry, or make fun of themselves, even just a little. You don't need to dress up. You don't need to plan a month in advance. You can just go and have fun. After all, it's only theatre.
